PHOTO STORY: TAMI’S TALE

image

It had been six years since Tami did this. She had successfully gotten rid of this bad habit on her 18th birthday. She made a resolution never to even think of it but tonight, she didn’t just think of it, she actually did it.

It was a cold night and it started raining at about 8:00 pm when the lights went off and Tami suddenly realised that she was actually alone at home. Her mum had travelled with her siblings to see Aunt Ify in Calabar and Dad had not come back from his trip to Abuja.

She put off the switch to which her Television was connected and put off the heater as well. She then laid down on her bed face up and started thinking about so many things. She thought about her siblings, her mum and her past. She started thinking about those nights when she stole her mother’s phone from under her pillow just so she could look at those pictures and videos. The internet had just come out then and the rich kids in her class introduced her to it. They didn’t do it intentionally as they never did like Tami back in school. She just overhead and learnt about it, got home, and tried it on her mum’s nokia java phone and it worked.

CHRONICLES OF MY NHJ: WASHDAY FEATURING ORS REPLENISHING CONDITIONER

Good day dearies.

Its been a while yeah? This is that time of the semester when I am just busy and am occupied for at least two weeks. Right now, i’m supposed to be doing a group assignment, and two other term papers. I am also supposed to be reading for an exam I have on Monday and the other one I have on Tuesday. I also have a mini defence in about two weeks too.

I was previously on DIY crochet braids that I made with three packs of expression multi. To be honest, I don’t know how that protective style came about. Three weeks ago, I just woke up from a nap on a Sunday morning and decided to make my hair because exams were coming up very soon and it just happened.

MY WHITE FLAG

When I was in secondary school, you could only describe me in one word

LOST

Yes, I was lost. I was always looking for answers to questions that weren’t there or questions that I created the need for. I had addictions, I had worries, I had a lot of issues that from this distance right now, look very foolish and unnecessary.

However, there is one question I always looked for an answer to everyday.

“I am redeemable?”

THIS THING THAT IS FAITH

A few friends came over on Friday to see me at home and we got talking. I was working on my final project for the semester with my rechargeable lamp and it was already getting dark. Then one of them asked me out of concern:

“Babe, this your light go last you reach night?”

and I replied:

“No worry, them go bring light”

He was taken aback by my response because I sounded so sure that there was going to be light that night. That was when I started explaining to my friend how strong my faith is and how far it has taken me in this life.

Faith according to the bible, is

“The assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen”

Faith to me, is what fuels and drives my life. My faith is so strong, it’s scary even to me. Faith is what has led me on all this while because my life has not been a bed of roses.

There have been low times, even in my academics and in my family but there is this faith that leads me and lets me feel like all is well. This my faith leaves me unshaken even by bad news. My faith makes me look beyond my situation to see that tiny light at the end of every dark tunnel. My faith makes it easy for me to accept situations as a part of a grand plan that this my God has for my life.

In fact, I am nothing without faith.

There is this different kind of optimism that comes with faith. Faith lifts us up from our situations and keeps us on a cushion allowing us to view from a better angle, God’s plan for our lives. Faith leads me, just like Ranchoddas in the movie “3 Idiots”, to place my hand on my chest and say to myself “Aal iz well”.

If you are reading this, and you don’t have faith in your creator, you insult him!

Do you know why? because he can do anything for you, all you need to do, is ask and believe. If it’s good for you and you are ready for it, he will give it to you.

Besides, having faith and being positive, is a healthy way to live because you worry less and smile more.

There is a song in my language:

“Chim n’echerem ooo, O bara uru n’am n’echere onwe m?”

It says:

“My God worries for me, Is there need for me to worry for myself?”

It’s hard but it’s healthy.

Build your faith and be happy.

 WADDINGTON’S WHOT

When I was little, we used to have alot of boring moments especially when PHCN (then NEPA) decided to forget our area on purpose. during the weekends or on holidays, we used to just sit around staring at each other or play in the sand until we got tired. it was like this until the Lord used our neighbors to introduce this God give card game that my children may never get the chance to play

PHOTO STORY: LADI’S TALE

204762886a94f325a1d347f232e8eff6

She was covered with sweat, saliva, beer, wine and many other things she didn’t recognise at all. They were in her hair, on her face and some smeared along her thigh but this wasn’t what bothered her the most. What bothered her the most was the visibility cloak of shame that was over her body.

She felt like she had been bared for the whole world to see, so she retreated to a corner behind the bed and folded herself into a foetal position hoping to wake up from this dreadful dream. She had heard stories about these things and had even seen them on nollywood but had never imagined it would happen to her.

WORDS ON MARBLE

Goodmorning people, how are we this morning?

This piece was shared to me on whatsapp and I decided to share it here so that it can bless you like it blessed me. I don’t know the author though.

Here goes:

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he  got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983!

He received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: “Why did God have to select you for such a bad disease?”

<!–more–>

To this Arthur Ashe replied:

50 Million children started playing Tennis

5 Million learnt to play Tennis

500 000 learnt Professional Tennis

50 Thousand came to Circuit

5 Thousand reached Grandslam

50 reached Wimbledon

4 reached the Semifinals

2 reached the Finals and when I was holding the cup in my hand

I never asked God “Why Me?”

So now that I’m in pain how can I ask God “Why Me?”

Happiness keeps you Sweet!! Trials keeps you Strong!! Sorrows keeps you Human!! Failure keeps you Humble!! Success keeps you Glowing!! But only, Faith keeps you Going.

Sometimes you are unsatisfied with your life, while many people in this world are dreaming of living your life.

A child on a farm sees a plane fly overhead and dreams of flying. But the pilot on the plane sees the farmhouse and dreams of returning home.

That’s life. Enjoy yours.

If wealth is the secret to happiness, then kids of the rich should be dancing on the streets. But only the kids of the poor do that.

If power ensures security, then VIPs should walk unguarded. But those poor ones who live simply, sleep soundly.

If beauty and fame bring ideal relationships; then celebrities should have the best marriages. But this doesn’t just happen.

Live simply. Walk humbly and love genuinely.
I hope it blessed your life, enjoy the rest of your week.
