Hello guys! It’s true! The Blog is one! 😆😆

I cannot believe it has been a year of constant blogging. I must confess keeping you guys entertained and informed all at the same time has been big wahala! And you know what? I love your wahala ;);).

I started this blog which was formerly known as GirlUp n Walk on the 19th of September, 2015 (two days after my birthday). I formerly owned a blog ( which I had been running for almost a year but I left it to start afresh.

Why did I start afresh?

I started afresh because it was something I had to do. I had been thinking about starting not just a blog but my whole life afresh by August last year when I was done with my final year exams and I thought to myself  “oh you’re starting a new life journey, why not start a blog and base that blog on this journey?” And that’s how my baby was born.

I had spoken to a few people about it including Bamiyo of BAMZIE’S blog about it and the support I received was unexpected actually. This 100 percent support was all I needed to kick start the movement.

With me at the beginning was Ijeoma Unachukwu who is an awesome writer, you should check her posts out, they are still available on the blog. Her write ups brought in traffic that I still don’t understand till date. Lol Yes! She is that good. I also had Mercy who was constantly giving the readers updates on make-up and skin and then Anita who wrote articles that made the readers feel good about themselves.

100th POST! YAY!

Hello everyone! Hope we are good!

Sorry I have not been around for a while, I have been waiting till this special day to put up the 100th post on this blog.

What has made today special? It’s my birthday! woohooo!! *Imaginary balloons and confetti*

To be honest, this happiness and joy I feel today can only be compared to the way I felt when my younger brother was born in 2010. I feel improved sort of like femaleigboarch 2.0 or something. I am happy because I have reviewed my life and I have discovered that I am not the same person I was in 2015. I think that’s why birthdays exist because they serve as milestones to help you measure how far you have gone in your life. It also gives you the opportunity to scan your life for things that you haven’t done or achieved. It gives you the need to devise new means or methods to achieve the said goals or to improve on the already existing means and methods.

It’s not like i’m going to have an awesome party with loud music and cake, but this feeling alone is enough to make my day. I’m so excited and happy with myself!

Today has thought be that God actually crowns people’s efforts. When you set your mind out to do something and you go for it the right way, your effort is recognised and rewarded. Don’t limit yourself with wrong mindsets, stereotypes or negative statements. I must confess there were low times when I would look at myself and ask myself:

“What do you think you are doing? You can’t be better than this can you? Just relax and stop making noise. Nobody will ever read your posts or even understand what you are saying why bother?”

“Look at her/him, he just does it and it works, why bother yourself struggling for something that just won’t work like his/her own?”

Yes, yes, even I fall for the trap the devil sets with comparison and envy. When this happens, I shrug it off and do my own thing anyway! Oh did I tell you, will be one in three days time! :D. It was actually registered a few days back but I made my first post on the 19th of September, 2015. On that day, I am going to share 24 throw back posts, two from each month so  prepare for your timelines to be raided!

So, this is it, the 100th post!

Thanks a lot to you guys, this blog would have been nothing without your comments, likes and shares. I hope I will live long enough to keep giving you posts to read and enjoy. Thank you and God bless.

Hello everyone, I trust we had a very good start this week (I didn’t :|, don’t ask why)

So while I was having my not-so-good Monday, my younger sister strolled into the room and starts talking about some Korean actor and how he looks gay but is not gay..bla bla bla.. I zoned out at some point until I noticed what was on her face. At first, it looked like a white leach (lol I’m serious) but I looked a little closer while she was talking about her Korean actor crush and then I saw what it really was: a slice of Garlic! That’s what was on her face and I burst out in laughter leaving her in confusion. It was when she realized what I was laughing at then she gave me the lecture of life as punishment for not listening to her while she talked as usual (simply put, I bought market).

Apparently Garlic is a magic worker when it comes to cleaning up acne! It was like magic! Here’s what my sister did (it’s a little unorthodox and I admit, a bit weird but It really works):

What you would need:

  1. A clove of garlic
  2. A sharp knife
  3. A face towel
  4. A bowl of warm water

  1. Peel a clove of garlic
  2. Slice it into thin flat bits
  3. Wipe the affected area with a warm towel
  4. Place a thin layer over the affected area
  5. Leave it on for about 10 minutes.
  6. Wash face with warm water.

Then you will see the magical results of this technique!

Although it might sting a bit, this little problem can be reduced by placing some ice on the affected area. This also prevents swelling and irritation.

Why is it that garlic cures acne/pimples? It’s because:

  • Garlic has anti – bacterial, anti-fungal, anti – viral and anti – septic properties that help to prevent clogged pores and thus reduce the acne. But remember that not to use this garlic without diluting it to prevent the stinging or burning sensation on the applied skin.
  • It has strongest anti – oxidant property which helps to fight against the free radicals which in turn cause damages to the body or skin cells that is not even easily repairable. Usage of garlic will avoid this damage and thus it prevents the formation of acne and other skin problems like aging, wrinkles, pimples, etc.
  • Allicin is a compound in garlic which gives pungent taste and smell. It will decompose into ultimate antioxidant called sulfenic acid in which both radicals and sulfenic acid will react very quickly other than any other antioxidants as it get, limited only by the time in which the two molecules will take time to come into contact with each other. Also there is no person to see the compounds either natural or synthetic to react this much quickly as anti-oxidants.
  • Regular intake of garlic will help to strengthen the immune system and thus improves the overall health other than treating acne.
  • It has anti – inflammatory properties which help to reduce the pain, irritation and the discomfort caused by acne. It soothes the irritated skin but make sure that not to leave this garlic for a longer time on the skin why because it causes burning sensation on the skin.
  • It acts as a drying agent and dries out the acne and also removes the acne scars on the skin.
  • It helps to improve the blood circulation that allows the skin tissues to properly receive all the vitamins and minerals which are essential for healthy skin. So always use chopped or diced garlic cloves to activate the allicin in it to clear the acne and other skin problems.
  • It has sulfur compounds called thiacremonon, in which the sulfur is generally used as skin drying agent for preventing excessive oiliness that causes acne.
  • Using garlic regularly or eating raw garlic will not only clears the acne but also prevents the new acne formations on the skin. This also prevents the formations of pimples, spots, zits or anything which are enemies of beauty.
  • It has an excellent source of various acne combating nutrients like vitamins (C and B6), minerals, selenium, copper, allicin, zinc (used to control sebum) and other phyto-nutrients which help to prevent the acne.
  • It also helps to reduce the acne breakouts by fighting the insulin resistance which in turn linked to acne. Generally insulin resistant body’s cells has trouble in responding to actions of hormone insulin which further leads to diabetes but the usage of two garlic compounds like garlic oil and diallyl trisulfide helps to improve the insulin sensitivity which again refers to the body’s ability to respond properly to the actions of insulin. In this way, garlic is very effective in fighting against the acne.

I like my sister’s technique because it is cheap, easy to execute and works really fast. Go and get your garlic now and stop looking like a cactus! (In my sister’s words)

Have a lovely week ahead dearies. Don’t forget to check out our other posts, like, comment and share with your friends. Bye!

As a child, I grew up using olive oil for almost everything. I used it for my hair,my skin, and even for cooking. Whenever people hear me say that i use olive oil as a skin cream, they have this “is this one crazy?” look on their faces like “who does that?” but it works for me so I dont really care what they think.
So! Im going to list out what and what I presently use olive oil for.
1. An Oil for my hair
2. Use it with honey for my skin
3. Use it with sugar to exfoliate my face
4. To prevent acne on my face
My mum has been using olive oil as a mosturizer for her skin for as long as i can remember and her skin is to die for.
Simply put, Olive Oil is the best thing that has happened to me ever!
So simply go to a store near you or online and get yourself a bottle of original extra virgin olive oil.
